Job Title: Medical Billing & Coding Specialist (EMS/Ambulance Focus)

Location: Remote / Hybrid   Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our elite team. In this role, you will manage the end-to-end claims lifecycle—from translating electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCR) into accurate medical codes to securing timely reimbursement.

  • The Certified Advantage: While we welcome traditional medical billers, strong preference will be given to Certified Ambulance Coders (CAC) and Certified Medical Coders (CPC). * We Will Train You: If you have a background in standard medical billing but lack specific ambulance/EMS coding experience, we will provide the rigorous, specialized training necessary to master this high-tier niche and elevate your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and translate ePCR documentation (including run sheets and face sheets) into accurate ICD-10 and HCPCS codes.
  • Prepare, validate, and submit clean claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers.
  • Identify, track, and resolve claim denials, rejections, and billing discrepancies.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and medical necessity documentation (including PCS/CMN forms).
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations, state/federal healthcare laws, and industry-specific billing standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of medical billing or coding experience preferred (EMS/Ambulance billing experience is a major plus, but not required).
  • Certifications: CAC (Certified Ambulance Coder) or CPC (Certified Professional Coder) designation is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with major ePCR and RCM software (e.g., ImageTrend, ESO, Billing Bridge) is a benefit.
  • Attributes: High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining professional integrity and accuracy under tight deadlines.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and certifications.
  • Comprehensive training program to specialize you in high-demand ambulance RCM.
  • Career advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing, powerhouse firm.
  • A supportive, professional, and forward-thinking team culture.
